Ocean Freight Rate Updates

A General Rate Increase (GRI) is an adjustment made by carriers that will be applied to base ocean freight rates. These increases are announced at the beginning of a month and can be adjusted week after week based on volume.

The following GRIs have been announced and will be implemented on the dates below. These increases are separated by shipping line and route:

CMA-CGM
Rates from the Middle East to North Europe, Scandinavia, Baltic, Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, North Africa, Central America- Caribbean and South America will increase $300 per 20’container and $600 per 40′ container.
Hapag-Lloyd:
Rates from East Asia to North Europe and the Mediterranean will be increased $900 per 20′ container and $1,800 per 40′ container.

Rates from East Asia to the East Coast of South America will be increased by $850 per 20′ container.

Westbound rates from Indian Subcontinent Zone 1 and 2, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Middle East to North Europe and the Mediterranean will increase by $300 per 20′ and $500 per 40′ container.

Rates from East Asia to the United States and Canada will see increases of $540 per 20′ container, $600 per 40′ container, $675 per 40′ high cube container, and $760 per 45′ container.

Maersk Line:
Rates from Far East Asia to Australia will increase by $300 per 20′ container and $600 per 40′ standard and 40′ high cube containers.

The Middle East and Indian Subcontinent to North Europe routes will see rate increases of $300 per 20′ container and $500 per 40′ and 40′ high cube containers.

Routes from the Mediterranean to Middle East Asia will have rate increases of $100 for 20′ containers as well as 40′ standard and 40′ high cube containers.

Rates from the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent to the Mediterranean will be increased by $300 per 20′ container and $500 per 40′ standard and 40′ high cube container.

Far East Asia to the East Coast of South America routes will see an increase of $850 per 20′ container and $1700 per 40′ standard and 40′ high cube containers.

CMA-CGM:
Rates from all Asian origins to North Europe destinations will be increased by $900 per 20′ container.

Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East to West Africa routes will see increases of $300 per container.

Rate increases of $300 per 20′ container will be seen on routes from the United Arab Emirates to East Africa.

Hamburg Süd:
Rates from India, Pakistan, and the Middle East to Europe, South and Central America will be increased by $300 per 20′ container and $500 per 40′ container.

Routes from Asia to the East Coast of South America will see increases of $850 per 20′ container and $1,700 per 40′ container.

Rates from Hong Kong, Korea, China, and Taiwan to Australia will increase by $300 per 20′ container and $600 per 40′ container.

Hapag-Lloyd:
Rates from India to Mexico, West & East Coast of Central America, West Coast of South America, Caribbean and Panama will see increases of $250 per 20′ container.
Hapag-Lloyd:
Rates from East Asia to the Caribbean, East Coast Central America, and Panama will increase $700 per 20′ container and $1,000 per 40′ container.

East Asia to Mexico, West Coast of Central America and West Coast of South America routes will see an increase of$750 per 20′ container and $1,000 per 40′ container.

Routes from Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East to USA and Canada will be increased by $320 per 20′ container and $400 per 40′ and 40′ high cube containers.

Maersk Line:
Far East Asia to Central America and West Coast South America routes will see rate increases of $700 per 20′ container and $1,000 per 40′ and 40′ high cube containers.

CMA CGM:
Routes from far East Asia and Japan to the Mediterranean, Adriatic, Black Sea and North Africa will be increased by $900 per 20′ container.

From North Europe to the Far East (China, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) will have rate increases of $250 per 20′ container and $400 per 40′ container.

Hamburg Süd:
Rates on Asia to North Europe routes will increase by $975 per 20′ container and $1950 per 40′ standard and 40′ high cube containers.

Asia to South America West Coast, Central America and Mexico Pacific Coast will see rate increases of $750 per 20′ container and $1,500 per 40′ standard and high cube containers.
